🎁 Guild Wars 2 Max Level
XP earned by max level characters will go towards filling your current region's selected Mastery line, or into a pool which rewards you with 1 Spirit Shard every 254,000 XP earned. Before the May 24, 2022 update the rewarded equipment items were non-salvageable, but could be used in the Mystic Forge though.
Took me a year and a half to reach level 333. Then I went Edge of the Mist, I made level 666 in three months. But that's only because in that first year and a half, I was a tower/keep/castle scout. I was not on the front lines, and sadly was not rewarded for that effort.
Trollocks.5084. First, there aren't really any tanks in GW2. You can build that way, but you won't really be playing a "tank". Plenty of classes can use a shield effectively, though. There's Chronomancer, of course (though you say you don't want to play one of those). There's also Revenant and Guardian healers.
Level 20, especially in Nightfall, pretty much means that you have completed the tutorial. Welcome to Guild Wars. There are max level armorers at the Consulate Docks and outside Sunspear Sanctuary in the Command Post. You can get a max level weapon from a Weaponsmith or purchase one for very cheap from other players in Kamadan, American District 1.
The Expansions are level 80 content and since it is better to level one or two characters to the max level anyway, you still have a lot of time until you would need either expansion. You could also just play the core game and then Season 2 of the living world until you start with HoT.
At max-level, there are two tiers of end-game gear: first are exotics, which you should be able to mostly buy a set of by the time you hit 80, that's what most lvl 80 content is balanced around; then there's ascended/legendary gear which has ~5-10% higher stats than exotic and requires significant amounts of material from all tiers, it's

The boosters only help selling the expansions, but not binding the players in the long term. On the one side is ANet selling them with the expansions and more in the gemshop, on the other hand is the player-base (regular players, guides, content-creators) who highly recommend to ignore the boosters for the known reasons.
You'll have enough Hero Points to max all the core specializations but you need to max those first before you can unlock any of the elite specs. So, you could boost and will quickly be able to unlock a barebones Weaver but you'll have to unlock Weaver fully as you go and even if you got every single hero point from the core maps, you won't have
Pact commander all tiers (final tier gives you autoloot), this is the only core tyria track that casual players should max out imo Fractal attunement track is only useful for fractals. If you do fractals, definitely take all tiers legendary crafting track is only useful for crafting legendaries. if that's one of your goals, you should level
